Day 113 - Rain

4/23/2010
Extremely wet and chilly morning at the airport. Working in the "walkway", I was lucky to stay inside but still got wet when I had to open the door and stand by the open door to let passengers in an out to the planes. Rampers were soaked!

Day 112 - Spring Hailstorm

4/22/2010
A severe thunderstorm dropped hail in Aurora. This is my daughter's neighbor's roof.

Day 111 - Theodore Bear

4/21/2010
This is Theodore Bear, a cookie cutter made in 2002 for the 100th anniversary of the Teddy Bear. It was made by coppersmith, Michael Bonne for Holidays By Mail.

Day 110 - New Puppy

4/20/2010
Michelle just got this cute puppy this morning. He flew in from Kansas City with a friend. She couldn't wait to get off work to go home and play with him and her kids. Everyone near the Customer Service Center was oohing and ahhing and wanting to hold him and pet him!

Day 109 - Globetrotter

4/19/2010 This tall young man arrived on a plane at my gate. I asked him about the basketball and if he had seen the Globetrotters. He said, "I am a Globetrotter!" He said his name is "Moose".

Day 108 - Vinca

4/18/2010 Some more of my flowers. My mother had vinca instead of grass in her front yard. This plant came from a cutting for there.

Day 107 - Rain

4/17/2010
It was raining when I left work this afternoon. You can't see it through the drops but the big blue "Bronco" is just right of center in this shot!
Taken in the DIA employee parking lot.

Day 106 - Happy Birthday

4/16/2010
Kathy and Paula were serenaded in the Break Room because of birthdays this weekend. There was cake!

Day 105 - Airport Friends

4/15/2010
Barbara and Beverly are fellow CS agents at DIA.

Day 104 - Street Trees at DU

4/14/2010 This gorgeous street tree is in the median on Evans just before University (at Denver University). There are several blocks of them blooming there. I also saw them by banks, in parks and on other streets. It's Spring!

Day 103 - Airport Nap

4/13/2010
This little guy was just tired. Poor Mama had a flat tire on the way to the airport and missed connections. Unfortunately, oversold flights made it so they didn't get on several stand-by flights also.

Day 102 - Dandelion

4/12/2010
One of these actually showed up before the last snowstorm but now there are lots. The flowers are so pretty - too bad the plant is a pest! Did you know that the English colonists brought them over as a salad plant?

Day 101 - Rhubarb

4/11/2010
This sneaked up on me, my favorite vegetable, rhubarb. Can't wait for it to get big enough to cut so I can make my favorite pie!!

Day 100 - Grape Hyacinth

4/10/2010
The grape hyacinth are blooming in my front yard. They are so beautiful in their little purple glory.
I am experimenting with close-up photography. The current lens I have doesn't allow me to get as close as I would like to sometimes.

Day 99 - Jack Swigert Statue

4/9/2010
Arriving on Concourse B by the train at Denver International Airport, you can see this statue of Coloradan Jack Swigert. He was the command module pilot for the ill-fated Apollo 13 flight. Swigert was elected to Congress from Colorado in 1982 but died of cancer before he was able to take office.
The photo challenge is taking a picture in a large space without loosing detail on the face. I had to do a little image adjustment by brightening it using photo shop.

Day 98 - Delena's Quilt

4/8/2010
My Cape Cod sister, Delena, shared one of her quilts at the Quilt Guild meeting. I was glad she could come to dinner and the meeting with us. We had fun! Delena likes to make scrappy quilts. She made this one as a present for her daughter's wedding anniversary.

Day 97 - Apple Pie

4/7/2010
Passover is over so it is OK to use regular flour for baking. David bought too many apples for the charoset, so I decided to make an apple pie. Yum!
I love making pie. Sometimes I even just make the pastry without any filling. The design in the crust was made with a pie topper cutter from NordicWare. It flips over to a design with leaves.

Day 96 - Flight Attendant Protests

4/6/2010
United Airlines Flight Attendants are protesting the cut-backs that affect their wages. They were holding informational signs at the drive-up check in doors today at DIA.

Day 95 - My Easter Eggs

4/5/2010
I decorated these ceramic eggs years ago when my girls were little. Some of them were "batiked" with glazes and others were done with China paints.

Day 94 - Balloon animals

4/4/2010
Young Jesse was connecting in Denver and stopped by my gate with his parents to get directions to his next gate. These wonderful creatures are the best balloon animals I have ever seen!

Day 93 - Cookie

4/3/2010
California cookie decorator Shirley Roberts sent these special cookies for our Rocky Mountain CutUps (local cookie cutter collector's club) meeting today. The theme of the meeting was "Hanky Panky Tea Party". She made her cookie look like a hanky using the RMCU logo in the corner. They were a big hit! Thank you Shirley.

Day 92 - First Flowers

4/2/2010
The first flowers in my yard are these tiny little blue blossoms that appeared under some bushes in my side yard. They are each only the size of a fingernail.

Day 91 - Giordano

4/1/2010
My 2 month-old great nephew, Giordano has red hair!

He was born at here in Denver 6:51am on January 31st.

Day 90 - Passover Popovers

3/31/2010
During Passover bakers don't use regular flour. Matzo meal, which is crushed matzos, is used instead. I have never made popovers before but was inspired by a
King Arthur's Flour blog to try these made for Passover by using matzo meal and matzo cake meal. They were really good hot with butter and jelly. The actual recipe I used came from the iVillage web page.
