Day 14 - Brazilian Embroidery

1/14/10
I was watching a demonstration of Brazillian embroidery at the Arapaho County Quilt Guild meeting. This needle art uses rayon thread instead of cotton. This is a close-up of some of the threads she used.

Some more photos of the embroidery.

Day 13 - Urban Wildlife

1/13/10
Urban wildlife - this bunny was spotted in the employee parking lot at DIA.

The challenge of course is getting the shot before the bunny runs. It was cold out and he was enjoying sitting in the sun.

Day 12 - Thorn Tree

1/12/10

In front of my house there is a wicked locust tree with huge thorns.

The thorns always have bothered me. We have tried to get rid of them on the trunk by burning them off and cutting them off. Unfortunately, they keep coming back. The 2nd tree doesn't have the thorns. I was told that one is a female tree and one is a male tree. I never took botany and I don't know which is which.

Day 11 - Cowboy Day

1/11/10
My co-worker Brandi's kids came for a visit on the concourse. It was "cowboy day" at school in honor of Denver's National Western Stock Show, one of the biggest in the country and the kick-off of the rodeo season.

Day 10 - Airport Friend

1/10/10
Tracy is one of the many wonderful flight attendants that we work with every day.

I meet lots of interesting people while working at a busy airport. It is nice becoming friends with the other people who work there. I like to find out about them. For example: Tracy's grandmother is named Arlene. Many times when I see her on the concourse, she is talking to her mom, so I tell her to "say hi to your mom". One of these days, Mom is going to come thru Denver and we can really meet!

Day 9 - Airport Friends

1/9/10
7 am - My friends Phil and Kristi in the SkyWest break room.
I think it might have been way too early for Phil.

Since I am working full time, many of my photos will be taken at Denver International Airport with my little camera.
I went digital this year. I bought my Canon in May before our trip to Albania to visit my Peace Corps Volunteer daughter Becca. Then I was able to buy a small Olympus camera on sale when she sent hers home to get fixed. I like having it handy in my bag so I can take a shot whenever I am inspired.
