Day 195 - DIA Terminal

7/13/2010
The roof/ceiling of the main terminal at DIA looks like mountains from the outside.
It is very striking from the inside.

Day 191 - Public Art

7/10/2010
This bit of "Public Art" is in the center court gallery of Concourse A at Denver International Airport. I'm not sure what this is
supposed to be.

To promote the exhibit, this large (26 feet tall - seven-ton), statue of Anubis, the Egyptian dog of the Dead, was erected at DIA on the South end of the main terminal looking in at the security lines.

Day 148 - Jeppesen Statue

5/28/2010
The main terminal at Denver International Airport is named in the honor of aviation pioneer, Elrey B. Jeppesen. Jeppesen was a pilot who started flying in the 1920's. After the depression he was delivering the mail when he realized that pilots needed better charts than the road maps they were using. Today, the company he started supplies charts to most pilots, world-wide.
This statue of Jeppesen is in the middle of the security screening area at DIA.

Day 147 - Sunset at DIA

The view from my gate this evening.

Day 145 -

Day 113 - Rain

4/23/2010
Extremely wet and chilly morning at the airport. Working in the "walkway", I was lucky to stay inside but still got wet when I had to open the door and stand by the open door to let passengers in an out to the planes. Rampers were soaked!

Day 107 - Rain

4/17/2010
It was raining when I left work this afternoon. You can't see it through the drops but the big blue "Bronco" is just right of center in this shot!
Taken in the DIA employee parking lot.

Day 99 - Jack Swigert Statue

4/9/2010
Arriving on Concourse B by the train at Denver International Airport, you can see this statue of Coloradan Jack Swigert. He was the command module pilot for the ill-fated Apollo 13 flight. Swigert was elected to Congress from Colorado in 1982 but died of cancer before he was able to take office.
The photo challenge is taking a picture in a large space without loosing detail on the face. I had to do a little image adjustment by brightening it using photo shop.

Day 82 - March, the snowiest month

3/23/2010
Views from Gate B56 at DIA.

These two pics were taken at 3:45 pm as the storm moved in from the West.

This pic was taken at 10:50 pm. Notice the over 3 inches of snow on the railing outside the window. March is the snowiest month of the year with several of the worst blizzards happening during the month. This one didn't even qualify as one of the worst. I kept telling the passengers that this was not a blizzard even!
