Day 230 - Folk Music Instruments

8/18/2010
These are the latest additions to my folk music collection:
the stringed instrument on the top is from Albania;
Becca brought the top flute from Romania;
the long center flute is made of birch bark and is from my recent trip to Norway;
and the bottom flute came from Greece.

The Romanian flute is played sort of like a Kazoo but with fingering
and the Norwegian one doesn't have any finger holes, you change the sound by overblowing and using your finger on the end.

Day 222 - Postcards

8/10/2010
Some of the postcards I recently got (OKI so I sent 3 of them to myself from overseas!)
From top clockwise: Oslo, Vigeland park; Iceland; Ukraine from Becca; and Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam.

Day 201 - Kokopelli Beanie Baby

7/19/2010
This little Beanie Baby of Kokopelli sits on my piano with some of the rest of my instrument collection. I also have the cookie cutter of Kokopelli there.

Day 200 - Turtle Ocarina

7/18/2010
One of my favorite ocarinas, again made by Whistleworks of New Mexico. This little turtle has such character and sounds good too!

Day 197 - Hats

7/15/2010
My husband, David, says he doesn't collect anything!
He just has a hat to wear depending on the job he is doing or where he is going!
I guess we will have to get him a hat from Norway for his "non-collection"!

Day 73 - Ocarina Bird

3/14/2010
This little bird lives on my piano. It is part of my ocarina and flute collection. Becca found this one in Seattle, complete with its little nest.
I am working on cataloging my collections.
This is another example of trying different angles to get the shot. I like working with my digital camera so I can retake the shot if I don't like what I see.
