Day 230 - Folk Music Instruments

8/18/2010
These are the latest additions to my folk music collection:
the stringed instrument on the top is from Albania;
Becca brought the top flute from Romania;
the long center flute is made of birch bark and is from my recent trip to Norway;
and the bottom flute came from Greece.

The Romanian flute is played sort of like a Kazoo but with fingering
and the Norwegian one doesn't have any finger holes, you change the sound by overblowing and using your finger on the end.

This little Beanie Baby of Kokopelli sits on my piano with some of the rest of my instrument collection. I also have the cookie cutter of Kokopelli there.

Day 189 - Kokopelli Quilt

7/8/2010
Because I played the flute when I was in school, I have a collection of flutes and ocarinas. I also like anything having to do with flutes.
This quilt was made by our speaker at the ACQ Quilt meeting last night, Michelle Watts.
